An integral part of Prof. Shen's work in Physics is his devotion to teaching and mentoring new generations of students and postdocs.
For interested undergraduate students
If you would like to join Prof. Shen's group, you must first apply to a graduate program of your choice at Stanford University, and follow the graduate admission process of that department. Some of these departments are:
Should you be accepted to a graduate program at Stanford, Prof. Shen would be happy to discuss your future in Physics — but he can only do so after you have gained admission to the university.
For incoming graduate students
If you would like to have a rotation in Shen Group, you will get the chance to conduct research in the fields of high-temperature superconductivity, microwave impedance microscopy, ultrafast lasers, molecular beam epitaxy, and a variety of other challenging topics in in Physics.
Should you choose to stay on with Shen Group after your rotation, you will have to arrange an interview with Prof. Shen to formally join the group and start on the path to your Ph.D.
Once accepted as a postdoctoral scholar, you can build upon your past successes by exploring a wide range of problems in Physics with our state-of-the-art instruments. Prof. Shen collaborates with postdocs on their projects and is always there to help find solutions and provide guidance.
