Beamline Facilities

Prof. Shen at Beamline 5-4 in SSRL.

The success of ARPES experiments hinges on how well we can control the energy and flux of photons incident on the sample and the accuracy to which we can analyze the emitted electrons. The brightness and tunability of synchrotrons make them ideal light sources for ARPES. Shen Group helps maintain two ARPES experimental endstations (Beamline 5-4 and Beamline 5-2) at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL), and one ARPES endstation (Beamline 10.0.1) at the Advanced Light Source (ALS) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). These beamline facilities enable us to measure a variety of materials with optimal experimental conditions.
