SSRL Beamline 5-2 (new)

The new Beamline 5-2 is under construction at present and the commission of the ARPES endstation will be around the end of 2014. The following is a schematic of the planned components of the endstation, featuring a Scienta D80 electron analyzer, a 3D spin detector, two molecular beam epitaxy systems (MBE) and a pulsed laser deposition system (PLD). As we combine ARPES measurement with in-situ MBE or PLD-based thin-film growth and spin detection, the new endstation would allow us to engineer new materials, in particular ultra-thin films and interfaces, and to explore the rich physics residing in these systems.
